Located just across the Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore, Queen Anne’s County offers a perfectly balanced quality of life. With the city just a short trek away, residents are able to have access to world-class urban amenities without living in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. Venturing over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is like instantly transporting into a calm and relaxing lifestyle, something residents and visitors alike simply can’t get enough of.

It could be because of this that the population in Queen Anne has increased steadily and consistently in the past thirty decades, whereas some nearby cities have seen a decline in population. However, despite the rise the county is still small in population, just about 48,500 residents, according to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Residents are able to travel over the bridge and into Baltimore or Washington, DC for employment, but overall this community is fairly self-sustainable. It’s one of those places that once you arrive you find no need to leave. According to the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, the major employers in Queen Anne’s County include Bay Bridge Marina and Yacht Club, Bayside Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation, BCBG Max Azria Group, Bridges Restaurant and Centreville National Bank of Maryland.

Recreation in Queen Anne’s County

There is a seemingly endless supply of available recreation and sports opportunities in Queen Anne’s County, and many residents take full advantage of the immense options available. Queen Anne’s County is home to three state parks, including the 3,800-acre Tuckahoe State Park that features plenty of walking, biking and hiking paths as well as a 60-acre lake for fishing and boating. Those looking to simply unwind and let their hair down will find the Matapeake Beach to be a prime option, through the summer months.

Looking to hit the greens? Queen Anne’s County boasts a number of golf courses that people from all over the region come to play at. Queenstown Harbor Golf is the crown jewel of courses here. This stunning destination features perfectly groomed greens and vast views of the Chester River, all within close proximity to wildlife. The course was given four stars in Golf Digest, Places to Play.

Being close to the water, residents of Queen Anne’s County have endless options to marinas, outfitters and opportunities to set sail. Queen Anne Marina, Kentmorr Harbor Marina, Bay Bridge Marina and Castle Harbor Marina are just to name a few.

Living in Queen Anne

The pace of life in Queen Anne is laid-back, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t city-like amenities in and around town. The county seat and largest community in Queen Anne’s is Centreville, a town with a quaint and inviting downtown area lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Each year residents gather for a fun event, the Spring Sea Glass Festival that takes place each March. Other annual events include the Corsica River Watershed Awareness Day and Centreville Day.
