Today visitors are met with the remnants and monuments of the some of the greatest strides and struggles of American history, giving them a look into the past that simply can’t be found elsewhere.

Being near one of the nation’s top metropolitan hubs has countless benefits, one of them being the vast diversity of available jobs. According to 2013 data from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, the top employers in Baltimore County include U.S. Social Security Administration, University System of Maryland, GBMC HealthCare, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, Erickson Living and T. Rowe Price Group.

Attractions and Amenities

People of all ages can enjoy local attractions like the Maryland Zoo, which has been a staple in the community since 1876. Spanning more than 135 acres of land, the Maryland Zoo is home to nearly 200 species of animals in state-of-the-art exhibits.

For those who are looking to escape into nature, there are a number of parks and vast greenscapes to enjoy the great outdoors. The crown jewel of Baltimore is Druid Hill Park, the city’s first municipal park and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located outside of the city, the Cromwell Valley Park is a 426-acre park that is ideal for birdwatchers and those who want to learn a little bit more about the native creatures in the area.

There are also a number of golf courses in Baltimore County for those who prefer to spend their time on the greens. The Woodlands, Diamond Ridge, Rocky Point, Fox Hollow and Greystone are all fantastic places to tee off.

Travel is made easy in Baltimore County. Located roughly an hour away from the Washington, DC and about two hours from Philadelphia, there are always opportunities to experience life in a nearby metropolitan area for business or leisure. Because of the county’s prime location along the coast, it’s a wonderful place to set down roots or start a new business.

Residents of Baltimore County can swiftly access Interstates 695, 795, 95, 83 and more. They also can get around on the Maryland Transit Administration system’s local busses, commuter busses, Maryland Area Regional Commuter Trains, Light Rail trains and Metro Subway. This abundance of options makes it easy to get around town for work and leisure.
